Angela Kenison - Weekly Play Coordinator - City Club Marietta

In order to support my golfing habit, I work as a graphic designer for a wine and liquor distributor. And no, they don’t give me a discount. I have to go to the liquor store just like everyone else.
The nerve!

I first started playing golf after weekend rugby practices.  Along with a couple of teammates, our coach and I would all head to Candler Park golf course dressed in our rugby clothes and sandals. What a motley bunch we were! We never took it very seriously as it was just an excuse to hit a
ball around and drink a few adult beverages. Sometimes we would make up different rules within our round like only being able to use one club for the hole, or having to play right handed if you were left handed and vice versa, or play speed golf where you had to run from shot to shot and play as fast as you could.

In 2001, I was at a LPGA golf tournament and was encouraged by Donna Ruggles to join EWGA. It took a few years, but I did finally join and started playing in the weekly league at Legacy (now the Fox Creek league).  Joining the EWGA has definitely helped me to grow my game. Now, I play at least once a week, all of the monthly events, the EWGA Championship Qualifier and even travel to play in the Dixie Cup on the Heart of the South team.

One can never have too much golf, I say. I even won the Players' Cup last year which goes to show you that you don’t have to be a good golfer to win; you just have to be an active golfer. So if you have a Thursday night free and want to come out to City Club Marietta to play in the weekly league, I will see you there! : )
