Alicia Anderson joined EWGA in 2012

I have always been an active person, but I’d never picked up a golf club before I turned 40. I started taking lessons because the guys in my family play and seem to have a lot of fun, and I love to be outside and active. I also got addicted to watching golf on TV and really felt like it was a good sport to get into that I could be active in as I get older.  I had never played on the course until I played with Linda Pitts and Nancy Ott and the rest of the EWGA Tuesday night gang at Bobby Jones.  They were so welcoming and patient with me, and still are!

I consider myself a new golfer and I have a long way to go to feel really comfortable on the course, but I am completely hooked!

When I joined, I volunteered for our chapter's marketing and communications committee to work with Peggy McCormick and others get the good word out about our chapter.  My day job is in marketing for a software company. I am passionate about the social media toolkit and enjoy helping others however I can. Social media is such a great platform for a group like ours and it is totally free! Tools like Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter allow us to connect with each other in whatever way works for you and to share news, photos, and conversation on our own time.

Shameless plug: be sure to follow EWGAtlanta on Facebook and get on Twitter and follow us so you don’t miss the good stuff!

I’m a native Atlantan and live in Buckhead, surprisingly overlooking Bobby Jones Golf Course. I love running, cooking, writing and reading, and my boyfriend and I enjoy traveling and drag racing in our spare timeHe races in the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Stock Eliminator class, so we go all over the Southeast and beyond racing cars and having fun with our friends. There might actually be a racecar in my future – I seem to be accumulating hobbies in my 40s, so why not?
