Julie Childs, Weekly Play Coordinator - Stone Mountain (Saturday)
in shock and awe at being a winner at Eagles Landing

I’ve played golf on and off since I was 12 - and never seem to get better!

My best golf story involved East Lake where I played before Tom Cousins bought it and turned it back into a premiere course.

No. 18 is a tough par 3 which is often on lists of the best golf holes in Georgia.  Back then, the red tees were across the lake making it impossible for us to get to the green.  One day, the tee boxes were under repair and the red tees were moved to a plot of dirt half way over the lake.  My drive made it to the green and I had a 3!  But I
never felt it was legitimate.  When I went back years later to the Championship Tournament, the red tees are now permanently at that spot half way over.  So now my par is real!!

I grew up in Decatur - best city in the world!  I practice law with a firm in Buckhead (across from Phipps and Lenox - great location!) and specialize in estate planning and small business representation.  My primary volunteer work is with the DeKalb Rape Crisis Center and Breakthru House which literally saves women who are recovering from addiction.

Penny Shannon introduced me to EWGA many years ago when there was no weekend play.  We’ve played at Bobby Jones during the week ever since.  Now I also enjoy playing Stone Mountain (although it’s terribly hard) and being the coordinator for Saturday play there.  It’s so easy to meet great women through EWGA and make new friends.  Wish it was as easy to improve my game!
