Ten Atlanta Women Advance to EWGA National Championship

World's Largest Amateur Golf Tournament for Women Set for October 5 - 6

The Atlanta Chapters took home 10 medalist honors at the EWGA North Florida & South East Region Semi-Final Championship on July 14, 2012 at the Robert Trent Jones Course at Oxmoor Valley in Birmingham, Alabama.

The North Florida & South East Region tournament is one of 15 semi-final events that lead to the EWGA National Championship.  All ten winners will advance to the EWGA National Championship, to be held at PGA National Resort & Spa, October 5-6.  This is the 17th year of the EWGA Championship, the world's largest amateur golf championship for women, inviting over 2,400 women to compete each year.

The North Florida & South East Region field consisted of women members from eight regional EWGA chapters who won their local qualifier this spring.  The 18-hole stroke-play tournament divided players into five flights based on USGA-verified Handicap Index, with low-gross and low-net first-place winners receiving automatic entry to the national championship.  A separate inter-chapter scramble team flight consisted of four-person members.
